The best way to deal with waste is not to create it in the first place. Each year, almost 30 million tonnes of solid waste is generated in Thailand. In Bangkok alone, more than 10.000 tonnes of trash is collected each day, approximately 20% is plastic waste. With a little bit of consciousness, you can already make a big difference - quick and easy! And if you do create trash, be responsible and separate, because sorting is key!

Quick & Easy Choices to Avoid Plastic

Buy fruits & vegetables at farmers' markets and bring your own baskets and bags

Avoid single-use plastics (Plastic bags, To-Go-Cups, Food container etc.)	Have your own handy cutlery (Fork & Spoon, Chopsticks, Straws)…

… or don’t use straws at all if you are older than 5 years old (“No straw please”)

Shop at Zero-Waste Shops / Refill-Stores	Bring your own water bottle along, instead of buying plastic bottles on the way

Wrap your presents in reusable cloths or newspaper

Shop wisely and chose alternative products:

Fresh Fruits instead of Juice Bottles	Matches instead of Lighters

Candles instead of Air Freshener	Old-school razor blades instead of single use plastic ones

Laundry Detergent: Powder in box instead of liquid in plastic bottles	Soap Bars instead of liquid soap	Wooden pencils instead of plastic pens

And at the end, separate the remaining trash properly and responsibly:

Compost organic waste and food left over…	... or at least separate your wet trash from your dry trash

Put Glass bottles and aluminum cans separately to the side and drop clean plastic at collections points (Hard Plastic & Stretchy Plastic)

And last but not least, don’t throw electronic waste (incl. batteries) in regular trash.
