Dr. Warathida Chaiyapa is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director/Head of the Degree Program at Chiang Mai University School of Public Policy (CMU-SPP). She holds Masters and PhD degrees in Sustainability Science from the University of Tokyo, Japan. Her primary research areas are on energy and climate change.

On energy, her work includes involvement in projects such as a consultation project for the Ministry of Energy, aimed at drafting regional energy policies for Thailand, research on policy instruments to stimulate blue hydrogen demand and supply in Thailand, and an examination of energy dependence between Thailand and Myanmar, among others.

On climate change, she has organized a Southeast Asian workshop on loss and damage, facilitated a regional workshop on climate impacts within the coffee industry. She takes on the development of a new Master's degree program in Climate Policy and Governance at Chiang Mai University. This new MA degree program is expected to accept applications for the Academic Year 2024.
