Bernadinus Steni has been an environmental lawyer for more than 10 years and is interested in the issues of sustainability, particularly indigenous peoples and local communities’ rights. With these two subjects, Steni has been involved in policy research in several fields including climate change, land rights, free prior informed consent, conflict resolution, sustainability standards for commodities. Working with several organizations, Steni has been doing applied research to support smallholder farmers in West Papua and Central Kalimantan Province pursuing the sustainability standards of oil palm and nutmeg.
