Strengthening Myanmar Literary Society: An Exposure Trip to Thailand

"Third Wave 2012" Indonesia-Myanmar Art Exchange

- The art exchange “Third Wave 2012 Indonesia — Myanmar,” was the highlight of the three year "Ongoing Echoes" exchange program, and the first Burmese contemporary art exhibition in Jakarta. It was held from 23 February to 1 March 2012 at the capital city of Indonesia at Cemara-6 art center.

Ongoing Echos 2: Indonesia-Myanmar Art exchange

- After a successful first event in Yangon in 2010, the second edition of the “Ongoing Echos” exchange between artists from Myanmar/Burma and Indonesia was held in March 2011 in Indonesia, on the Island of Bali. 12 artists from Myanmar/Burma and Indonesia jointly presented their artwork in the Tanah Tho Gallery in Ubud. more»

3rd Beyond Pressure Festival of Performance Art, Yangon, 2-5 December 2010

In early December 2010 Yangon, once more, became the capital of performance art of Myanmar/Burma, when six international artists (from Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Philippines, Vietnam and Germany) and 13 local performance artists gathered to celebrate the third issue of the Beyond Pressure Festival of Performance Art.

Mekong Art Exchange Program 2010

- As part of the Artist Exchange Program 2010 between 22 July and 1 August a group of artists from Myanmar/Burma visited two other countries from the Mekong Region, Vietnam and Thailand. The exchange consisted of two parts. The first part was taking place between the 23 to 25 July in Hanoi and was hosted by the Nhasan Studio. Afterwards the group paid a visit to Thailand to the Bangkok Art House Gallery at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). more»

“Contemporary Art in Myanmar/Burma”

- In the framework of its forthcoming 10th anniversary the Heinrich Böll Foundation Southeast Asia Regional Office, Chiang Mai, has taken the opportunity to present some aspects of its current three programs in a series of events during the year 2009. After two successful events have already taken place, the last event of this series was related to the Myanmar/Burma program and focused on “Contemporary Art in Myanmar/Burma”.

"Contemporary Art from Myanmar/Burma" a two week exhibition in Bad Aibling, Germany, 23 September-18 October, 2009

- In cooperation with HBF SEA the "Kunstverein Bad Aibling" invited four contemporary Burmese artists to Germany to exhibit their new art media, installations and paintings.The exhibition established among others cultural bridges between Myanmar/Burma and the German art community, fosterd dilagues between German public and Burmese contemporary young generation artisits, thus stimulating in-depth discussions and reflections on current cultural developments.

Beyond Pressure - International Performance Art Festival, 4-14 December 2008, Yangon, Myanmar/Burma

- This was the first time in Myanmar performance art history that a performance art event was officially allowed. This was the first international performance art festival curated by local organizers. The pervious events used to be organized by senior artists.
