Kyi Phyo is an energy researcher and co-founder of the Foundation of Renewable Energy and Ecology based in Danu self-administered region of southern Shan State. He also worked for the Myanmar/ Mekong Energy and Ecology Network (MEE Net) for ten years, advocating for equitable and sustainable energy futures in Myanmar and Mekong Region. Kyi Phyo has been working closely with grassroots activists and local residents in the Ayeyarwady and Salween river basins building a network that confronts destructive hydropower project plans, and fosters just and sustainable ways of using the rivers.
